Chichester district dog walkers warned of substance on beaches

Chichester District Council is warning dog owners to keep pets away from any white substance they may find on local beaches. The council has been warned that there is potential for palm oil to be washed up on the district's beaches.

The oil may appear as white balls which are likely to be natural emulsified oils and organic matter. They are commonly washed up on beaches following stormy sea weather.

As a precaution, the council is advising people not to touch the items or allow pets to eat it.

The beaches remain open as usual and the council will continue to monitor the situation. If anyone finds anything resembling this description they should contact the council on 01243 785166 and we will arrange for it to be removed.
