Make a note in your diary...summer events in the Chichester District

Introduction

Want to keep boredom at bay over the school summer holidays? There are a whole host of events organised by Chichester District Council taking place across the district this summer. They will include football, rugby, multi-sport camps, events in parks and special activities at The Novium to inspire an interest in history and much more.


"From Love Parks Week events to football and rugby, there is something for everyone," says Cllr Eileen Lintill, Chichester District Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure, Wellbeing and Community Services.

Sport in the Community

Football, rugby, and multisport holiday courses are open to boys and girls aged 6-15 years of all abilities. All coaches are fully qualified and have received relevant checks for child safeguarding.

Football in the Community courses are taking place at:

·       University of Chichester - Thursday 25 and Friday 26 July;

·       Bracklesham Park - Thursday 1 August;

·       Tangmere Recreation Ground - Friday 2 August;

·       Midhurst Rother College - Thursday 8 and Friday 9 August;

·       The Academy, Selsey - Thursday 15 and 16 August;

·       Fernhurst Recreation Ground - Thursday 22 and Friday 23 August; and

·       University of Chichester - Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August.

These are delivered by Albion in the Community.

Rugby in the Community courses are taking place at:

·       The Academy, Selsey - Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 August;

·       Fernhurst Recreation Ground - Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 August

·       Swanfield Green, Chichester - Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 August.

These courses are delivered by Chichester RFC.

The Novium

Every Wednesday throughout the holidays, additional free family activities with entrance admission will be taking place in the museum, plus children's craft workshops will be on every Thursday from 1pm-2:30pm. The Guildhall in Priory Park is open on Saturdays during the summer from 12pm-4pm with free entry. Love Parks Week 27 July - 4 August

Celebrate one of the Chichester District's best-loved parks - Bishop's Palace Gardens - at a free event during national Love Parks Week on Wednesday 31 July between 10am and 4pm.

Burst Holiday Club

The 'Burst Holiday Club' will run each day throughout the summer holidays at Westgate Leisure Chichester from 8.30am-5.30pm each day (excluding the bank holiday). It is for children aged 6 to 16 years. Activities include dance, trampolining, ball games and team sports, arts and craft sessions, and film time (during lunch). The cost per child is £22 for a full day or £16 for a half day. Get Active Festival

Chichester's free Get Active Festival will take place at Oaklands Park on Sunday 8 September between 12pm and 4pm. Activities to try include rifle shooting; dance; fencing; orienteering; hockey; cricket; rugby; tennis; boxing; martial arts; plus much more. This year we are also delighted to announce the presence of the Sussex Cricket roadshow and the Sussex Bowls roadshow
