Your chance to view revised Conservation Area appraisals for Bosham, Earnley and Somerley

Introduction

Residents are being asked to give their views on revised Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Proposals for the Bosham, Earnley and Somerley areas. The drafts of revised proposals have been prepared by Chichester District Council. Residents will have until Friday 5 April to submit their views on the revised proposals.

The documents:

·       identify the character and qualities of the Conservation Areas;

·       highlight key issues, and

·       put forward proposals for their management over the coming years.

The appraisals also identify features that are considered to detract from the character of the area.

The appraisals have been undertaken to make sure there are up-to-date documents to support future planning decisions for the areas. They have been revised following guidelines set out by English Heritage.

The appraisals also review the boundaries of each of the conservation areas and make recommendations for their enlargement.

The Management Proposals include recommendations which are aimed at either protecting the special character of the areas, where it is seen to be under some threat, or enhancing the character of the areas where there are opportunities to do so.

Public exhibitions of the proposals are being held showing:

·       Bosham Conservation Area proposals on Friday 22 February from 5pm to 7pm and on Saturday 23 February from 10am to 1pm at Bosham Village Hall; and

·       Earnley and Somerley Conservation Areas proposals on Friday 22 February from 2.30pm to 5pm at Bracklesham Barn.

There will be copies of the draft appraisal documents available to view at the exhibitions. Copies will also be available at Chichester District Council offices at East Pallant House, Chichester and can also be viewed on the council's website at www.chichester.gov.uk/
