Lots to do in the Chichester District during half term

Introduction

There are a variety of fun events and activities for children and young people to enjoy this half term in the Chichester District, to help keep the whole family entertained.


Activities include:

·       Football in the Community holiday course - at the University of Chichester with Brighton and Hove Albion FC on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 February; and

·       Rugby in the Community holiday course - at Florence Park, Chichester with Chichester Rugby Club and Driving Force Rugby Coaching Ltd on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 February. 

These courses are open to boys and girls aged 6 to 15 (school year 2-10) of all abilities. There's a focus on all-round player development, different training drills as well as games and tournaments, but most importantly the sessions are about having fun! All coaches are fully qualified and DBS/CRB checked.

Funding to run the courses is provided by the following local housing associations: Home, Affinity Sutton, A2 Dominion Group, Hyde Martlet and Raglan Housing Association.

Activities at The Novium include:

·       Half Term Hands on History - from Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 February. Get up close to real and replica artefacts. These handling sessions are held at various times throughout half term. Free with museum admission;

·       Children's workshop: Mosaic Mania - on Sunday 17 February from 1pm to 3pm. Suitable for children aged 5 years and up. A hands-on workshop to make a ceramic mosaic mirror frame to take home. The cost is £2.50 per child and pre booking is required;

·       Family Highlights Tour - on Wednesday 20 February from 11.30am to 12pm. Explore the museum on this highlights tour which is specially designed for families with young children. Free with museum admission.  

·       Family Crafternoon: Spoon Puppet Soldiers - on Wednesday 20 February drop-in between 1pm to 4pm. Try on a helmet and imagine being a medieval knight or Roman Legionary. Then make a spoon soldier to march home with you. Free with museum admission;

·       Finds Identification Afternoon - on Thursday 21 February from 12pm to 2pm. Run in conjunction with the portable antiquities scheme you can learn more about your archaeological finds from a Finds Liaison Officer. Free.

Westgate Leisure, Chichester will be running a daily Burst holiday club from Monday 18 to Friday 22 February from 8.30am to 5pm.

The club is for children aged 5 to 16 years old and can be booked for the whole day or half day. Activities include:

·       dance;

·       trampolining;

·       ball games and team sports;

·       art and craft;

·       bouncy castle and soft play; and

·       film time during lunch.

The cost per child is £15 for half day and £20 for full day. Book before Monday 11 February and receive an 'early bird' discount on the full day price.
