Get 2013 off to a sporting start


Kick start 2013 by making a resolution to take part in one of Chichester District Council's sports events throughout the year.

Upcoming events include:

·       Natures Way Foods Chichester Junior Aquathon on Saturday 20 July and Triathlon and Try-a-Tri events on Sunday 21 July - the main Triathlon event includes a 600m pool swim at Westgate Leisure Chichester, a 42km (26 mile) cycle ride and a 10km (six mile) run. Team entries are welcome for the main Triathlon event. The Chichester Try a Tri event includes a 400m pool swim, 30km (18.6 mile) cycle ride, and a 5km (three mile) run. The Junior Aquathon is for competitors between eight and 16 and includes a swimming race at Chichester Westgate Leisure, followed by a race around Chichester College's campus. ·       Get Active Festival on Sunday 8 September - the free festival features sports and arts clubs from the local community offering free taster sessions for the whole family. It also features a play zone for young children, fun inflatables and a mobile climbing wall. Last year's event included rugby, softball, golf, tennis, gymnastics, cricket, hockey, dance, athletics, boxing, table tennis and many more.

·       Children on the Edge Chichester Half Marathon on Sunday 13 October -the route includes a mixture of road and cross country terrain, starting and ending at Chichester College. Runners are able to take in many of the city's historic sites, including the Cathedral and the City Walls, and a great view from the top of the Trundle. The event is organised by Chichester District Council in partnership with local charity Children on the Edge. The charity is dedicated to working on behalf of marginalised and vulnerable children.
