Why not try a bike ride?

Introduction

Are you keen to get back into cycling but not quite got the confidence to do it alone? Perhaps you have always wanted to learn to ride a bicycle? Free guided cycle rides, suitable for adults of all ages and cycling abilities, are being held throughout the summer and autumn.

The rides are easy, flat routes through beautiful countryside in the Chichester District. Routes range from five to 12 miles and last from 45 minutes to two to three hours.

Don't worry if you don't have a bike as a limited number of free bikes for the rides are available. Free cycle training and beginners bike maintenance courses are also available.

Rides dates are (all rides start from Westgate Leisure Chichester):

The project is funded by Chichester District Wellbeing. Rides are led by trained ride leaders who are all community volunteers.

Councillor Eileen Lintill, the Chichester District Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure, Wellbeing and Community Services, says: "It's a fact that most of us are not as active as we should be. These easy rides are aimed at people who want some gentle exercise or who are new or returning to cycling. So what are you waiting for? Book on a ride and enjoy our beautiful local countryside while getting a bit of exercise."
