Cracking Easter holiday activities in the Chichester District


From swimming courses and football sessions to play and sport afternoons at local recreation grounds, Chichester District Council is making sure children have an egg-citing Easter break. Holiday activities will be running from Monday 2 to Friday 13 April.

Councillor Eileen Lintill, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Wellbeing, says: "We want families to enjoy their Easter holidays and so have developed a packed programme of fun and sporty activities. These activities are a great way for children to meet new friends and keep busy and, with activities ranging from Waterwalkerz to badminton and trampolining, there is plenty to choose from."

Easter Play and Sport family afternoons will be taking place:

·       Monday 2 April from 1.30-4.30pm at Whyke Oval, Hay Road;

·       Wednesday 4 April from 1.30-4.30pm at Tangmere Recreation Ground, Malcolm Road;

·       Tuesday 10 April 1.30-4.30pm Florence Park, Florence Road; and

·       Wednesday 11 April 1.30-4.30pm Swanfield Park, Swanfield Road.

Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The event is supported by local housing associations, children and family centres and local residents' associations. For more information email or call 01243 534797.

Football in the Community courses will be taking place on:

·       Thursday 5 April from 10am-3pm at Tangmere Recreation Ground, Tangmere; and

·       Thursday 12 and Friday 13 April from 10am-3pm at The Academy, Selsey.

Rugby in the Community courses will be taking place on:

·       Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 April from 10am-3pm at Tangmere Recreation Ground, Tangmere; and

·       Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 April from 10am-3pm at The Academy, Selsey.

Westgate Leisure Chichester and Westgate Leisure Bourne are holding 'Burst! sports 'n' fun' multi-sport holiday programmes for children throughout the holidays.

Sports on offer include:

·       trampolining for 5-12 year olds;

·       Tiny Tots sessions for 5 year olds and under including a bouncy castle, soft play, hula hoops and more;

·       fun swim sessions for under 13s;

·       wet fun and games for 8+ years;

·       snorkelling for 8+ years;

·       Flip and Fun for 8-11 year olds who want to learn how to dive;

·       Waterwalkerz;

·       toddler gym for 2 and 3 year olds;

·       junior badminton for children aged 8+; and,

·       intensive swimming courses.

Children can enjoy a selection of fun activities for just £1 at Westgate Leisure Bourne this Easter. Sports included in the promotion are table tennis, badminton and short tennis.

The Community Sports Bag Scheme operates like a book library - once you have registered you can look through the book and hire out equipment free of charge for a whole day or the whole weekend.
