Switch Over News

Introduction

HELP SCHEME SWITCHES A MILLION PEOPLE TO DIGITAL TV More than one million older and disabled people across Britain have received practical help from the Switchover Help Scheme to convert one TV to digital. Help Scheme installers have driven over six million miles to date, working around 125,000 days to prepare eligible people for switchover. In the Meridian TV region, just under a million people qualify for help. Everyone who is eligible for the scheme in the South and South East of England should now have received in the post a pack explaining what to do if they want to take up the help on offer.

UNDER TWO MONTHS TO START OF DIGITAL TV SWITCH
Digital switchover in the Meridian TV region begins on 8 February 2012. When you switch depends on which transmitter group broadcasts a TV signal to your home. A list of switchover dates across the region is available here. Viewers can find out when they are due to switch, and the channels they should receive after switchover, via Digital UK's online postcode checker.
ROADSHOWS BUSY ACROSS THE MERIDIAN REGION
Viewers can receive advice and information about all aspects of switchover at one of the Digital UK roadshows now taking place across the region. All households will also receive in the post a 20-page guide to switchover, which explains the options for going digital, what happens during switchover and provides guidance on retuning for viewers with Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV equipment.

CHARITIES LEND A HELPING HAND
Both Digital UK and the Switchover Help Scheme are working with local charities to deliver extra information and advice to viewers who need it. Leading this work in Meridian are Action with Communities in Rural Kent, Action in Rural Sussex, Age Concern Isle of Wight and Community Action Hampshire. To contact the organisation that will be working in your area, please email Ian Smith.
