Preparing for bad weather

Introduction

Chichester District Council is encouraging residents to make sure that they are prepared for bad weather over the winter months. The council has pulled together key advice, information and contact details on www.chichester.gov.uk/christmas, to help prepare residents for bad weather. Residents can also call the council on 01243 534616.

"Over the past two years, this country has experienced severe weather conditions during the winter months," say Councillor John Connor, Cabinet Member for the Environment.

"We want to make sure that residents have the information and guidance that they need if the bad weather strikes again. We also want to make sure they know where to go for up-to-the minute information."

The information includes the 'snow code' - advice on clearing ice and snow; flooding advice; and a winter checklist. It also includes tips on keeping warm this winter, which is directed at older and vulnerable residents.

In severe weather the council will provide regular updates and important information on: www.chichester.gov.uk, www.facebook.com/ChichesterDistrictCouncil and twitter.com/ChichesterDC. Residents can also call the council on 01243 534616.

The information is being released as part of the council's 'Countdown to Christmas' campaign, which will run until Christmas Eve. Its aim is to help residents prepare for the festive season - from events and activities, to important information. This can be found at www.chichester.gov.uk/christmas
