Make sure you are able to vote on 5 May 2011

Chichester District residents are being reminded to make sure they are able to vote in May. On Thursday 5 May 2011, residents will be able to have their say in: Chichester District Council elections; parish elections; and, UK referendum on the voting system to UK Parliament.

Figures published by the Office for National Statistics this week show that there are 90,781 people registered to vote in the Chichester District. However, there are still people in the district who risk missing out on having their say, as they are not registered to vote. Anyone who has moved house in the past few months needs to register their new address.

John Marsland, Electoral Registration Officer at Chichester District Council, says: "We want to make sure that all of our residents have the opportunity to have their say on Thursday 5 May 2011. With the extra bank holiday for the Royal Wedding, some residents may be away on election day. There is still time to apply to vote by post or by proxy."

Forms can be printed off from and returned to the Elections Team, Chichester District Council, East Pallant House, East Pallant, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1TY.
